[I'm sitting here at the window sill, thinking about the past week or so. It is so hot in our apartment but right now sitting at the window it is perfect. There is a perfect breeze. The sound of the trees swaying outside is so nice. Peaceful.]

This week has been filled with such extremes and so much in between.

The death of our friend. The birth of our nephew.

Meeting and getting to know new coworkers, bosses. Getting to spend time with my peeps – the ones that make me feel so loved and valued. Bat and squirrel attacks. Our friend’s motorcycle accident. Bridges falling into rivers. News of babies to come. News of friends to leave. Heartbreak. Grief. Inspiration. Hope.

While the Hoisington home is still on high alert due to the pesky little punk squirrels invadin’ up in on our grill. I have some good news. One, I have discovered how to scare them away without having to call anyone. I run around to our office window and begin to lift up the window. It makes so much noise that no matter if Luther is tossed up on the sill or not they still seem to run. It’s so fantastic. Two, I called Terminix and those sweet people are going to come help us out with the little punks for good! Wahooo!

Other good news I am so thrilled to share:

- Our dear friends Meredith and Erik are expecting their very first baby!! They are lovely people and I am so very happy for them. Meredith and Erik were married only a few months after Anth and I were. So yesterday I told Anth that for some reason something about them being pregnant makes me feel like it would now be okay for us to have a baby. He just laughed at me. That’s another blog for another day. None the less, we are so excited for our friends!!

- My cousin Melissa is getting married tomorrow!! Ow ooow!! We have so been looking forward to this wedding and can’t wait!

- My beautiful sister in law, Juliane is expecting the newest member to our family, any day now!!!

I’m going to go hang out with my brother, and his incredible family this weekend. They are just the best. I haven’t seen any of them for a couple of weeks now so as you can imagine I’ve really got my miss on. Potentially, our new sweet babe-o could be born Sunday or Monday while I’m there.

blog no. 2 — Squirrel Attack!!

I’m not big on squirrels.
I’m not big on most any creatures coming out of the rodent family.

However, maybe because there seems to be an over-population of the dirty lil’ beasts running all about, outside of the church that I happen to both live in and work at, I am a bit less than thrilled about their presence.
These squirrels are the worst.
They run around like they own the joint, showing little to no regard for the others, the humans, that would like to co-exhist with them.
yuuck!

Yesterday, as I came into our aparment for lunch, I noticed good ol’ Luey Lu hanging out on the kitchen floor. Unless it’s time for Lu to eat, he doesn’t really hang out there. And then quickly, I notice a bunch of stuff spewed about on the counter. (Now I must admit my first thought was, “What the heck, did Anth seriously not notice everything knocked over?!? Iye.” Sorry Babe!) But then I saw the screen. Ahhh! There was a perfect squirrel body cut out through the screen window. I immediately ran out of the kitchen, had a proper freak out and called Anth. He calmed me down and assured me that if there was a squirrel in the apartment, Lu might be looking into it! I was thoroughly grossed out by the idea so I grabbed a banana and left.

This morning before heading out for work, I did a double check making sure the kitchen window was seccurely closed.

However,
as I returned for lunch…oh my goodness…don’t you know it.
That dirty little squirrel had created a bigger hole in the screen and decided to just stick around hanging out at the window!!! Of course, I ran out of the kitchen, had a proper freak out and called Anth. He suggested I put Luther on the counter to scare the squirrel away. Which was a great idea except for I could no longer get myself to actually go in the kitchen. Anth was wonderful and came home to rescue me. When he arrived the squirrel was still there, hanging out. So Anth and Lu went on the roof and scarred the beast away.
